N4 | Women investors place greater weight on environmental and social impact

Excerpt. BAC4SHC evidence highlights a significant gender difference in the attention given to environmental and social impact when assessing investments.

Gender is a central dimension of BAC4SHC’s research on human capital and entrepreneurial finance. The expanded survey dataset comprises 183 responses, including 50 women, corresponding to approximately 27% of the sample. This provides a substantial basis for examining differences in investor profiles, experience and investment priorities.

The analysis found that 34% of women respondents identified environmental and social impact as an important investment consideration, compared with 15% of men. The difference is statistically significant in the project sample. Other results point to differences in executive and entrepreneurial experience and in perceptions of gender bias within startup finance.

These findings do not imply that all women or men invest in the same way. They instead identify patterns that merit deeper investigation and can inform investor engagement, platform design and policies intended to make entrepreneurial-finance ecosystems more inclusive.
